OKTOBERFEST: FEAST YOURSELF!

Join Chef/Instructor Jenn Robbins of Good Foods Kitchen for an afternoon making and feasting on a German-inspired menu.  You’ll learn how to and make up your own savory strudels.  You’ll also get a lesson in fermentation AND start your own jar of sauerkraut to take home!

Then we’ll sit down to a meal of strudels, veggie-loaded market salad, beer-cheese soup (made with wonderfully melty GA cheddar curds), and roasted veggies in a bacon-mustard vinaigrette.  And all served with a variety of delicious beers (of course)!

Menu:
Savory strudels:  Pork ‘n Kraut, Potato, kale & horseradish,  Smoked chicken & duck with cabbage
Veggie-Loaded Garden Salad, Creamy Black Pepper Dressing
Georgia Beer & Cheese Soup
Roasted Autumn Veggies, Bacon-Mustard Vinaigrette
A Surprise Chocolate Sweet Treat
Variety of Beers

Soup & Salad:  A Hands-on Plant-Based Menu.  Just in time for that Fall Chill coming soon!  We’ll pair two soups with a crisp salad – and even make wontons, complete with instructions for the dough making.

Using local and organic produce we will chop, simmer, and serve a delicious menu consisting of two different soups – creamy carrot ginger and mushroom wonton.  And  two separate dressings – sweet miso and onion sesame – to drizzle o.ver a fresh veggie salad Saturday, October 6 and 4 pm.  Special Couple Pricing.  More information and to register here:  Soups & Salad

 

Our popular Bread & Butter Workshop returns October 6 at 1:00 pm.  Not only will you create  a true French baguette but you’ll be on track to make a boule, ciabatta, even foccacia.

Tis the season for baking something wonderful!  Chef Sarah Dodge launches the Fall with Autumn Pies &  Savory Turnovers.  We’ll be baking a Rustic Apple Pie – how seasonal – and a savory turnover for you to take home,  along with complete recipes and instructions.

Time for Apple Butter!  Join our Canning 101 Workshop and learn how to preserve for year-round goodness!  And don’t stop there:  We also learn how to and make up Pickles & Tomatoes, too.

So you’ll be off  making all manner of pickles and preserved fruits and tomato recipes –  relishes, chutneys , jams, hot sauces, marinara  – you name it, you can “put it up” for the best entrees, lunches, snacks, and appetizers. What’s a Tea Party without Scones & Jam?  Seems like a perfect combination to us!  The Learning Kitchen is  partnering with your favorite tea shop, just add honey, here in the Municipal Market to bring to you a scones and jam class while sipping a spot of tea {pinkies up, optional}  You learn how and make up a batch of rich Crème Scones and a Seasonal Fruit Jam

You’ll sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labor while Brandi shares some insider information about teas, along with some tips on how to  plan your own Tea Party.   Then  take home whatever you don’t finish along with your own jar of just-made jam.  Sunday, October 14 at 1:00 pm:   Tea + Scones + Jam

Gullah-GeeChee Wine & Dine!   Take a culinary journey through the Low Country with Gullah-GeeChee native, Pamela D. Jones, presenting us her authentic cuisine.  Menu:  Homemade Muscadine Wine along with Boiled Peanuts.

Making Kombucha.  It’s been called the “Elixir of Life”, and if you’ve ever tasted a nice chilled glass of Mango or Cherry flavored kombucha, you’d probably agree.  For those of you from the South, you’ll quickly recognize kombucha as a delicious sweet tea with a twist  – and a light fizz. It’s the perfect refreshing drink and also a great mixer for your favorite adult beverage.

We’ll have 8 different flavors for you to try, a personalized batch to take with you plus everything you’d need to home brew more for your family and friends  – including your very own Scoby.  Enough starter tea to make 6 servings at home  and 10+ recipes & additional drink ideas to spice up your favorite adult beverage.  Saturday, October 27 at 2:00 pm.  Register here:  Making Kombucha.

A hint of Oktoberfest?  Sure thing, making German-style soft pretzels!  It’s our Pretzels & Mustard (and Beer, of course) Workshop!  Learn how to make those crusty-on-the-outside and soft-and-flavorful-on-the-inside German-Style Pretzels along with authentic Dijon Mustard.

Then enjoy tasting your creations with a variety of mustards and beer, of course!  And extra pretzels to take home too. Thursday, October 18 at 6:00 pm.   Pretzels & Mustards & Beer .
