New Classes & a Give-Away!

 In General

Several years ago, when I imagined having our own teaching kitchen, I knew there’s an amazing array of instructors ready and able to share their skills with eager students.

As we conclude our first year in The Learning Kitchen, we are even more impressed with the wealth of diverse talents in our area.  Some of our instructors are very experienced in teaching;  some are brand-new to teaching, having perfected their skills through their own classes, workshops, restaurant service, catering…even on farms or in other real-life experiences.  Often these skills are learned “hands-on” since no culinary school teaches them.

Here are a few of our new classes and workshops:  And read farther down this posting to learn more about our exciting give-away this month and how to register for it!

For more information and to register for any of these classes or events mentioned here, click on any of the titles (in bold) below. Or check out our website’s listing of classes and events here:   www.PreservingNow.com

As we round out our February & March calendars, we have added a new children’s cooking class:  Mom & Me /Dad and Me:   Bringing the young cook into the kitchen under the watchful, guiding eyes of the parent and the instructor prepping and cooking a healthy stir-fry.

The interest in young folks’ cooking is astounding.  I field questions every day on whether we have classes geared to them – and yes, we do!  What a fun way to spend time with your child!

Our Pasta 101….2,3.4 returns in early March.  This class was a big hit when we introduced Instructor David DiCorpo to The Learning Kitchen.  David will share lots of ways to make pasta (even if you don’t have a machine at home) plus seasonal, inspired sauces to fit the pastas made.

We’ve just added another workshop from our Chat & Chop Instructor, Megan Gilroy.  If you happened to have joined us in the Kitchen for her last class, you know how much fun it was – along with taking home 4 creative healthy meals with sides and dessert.  Megan – back by demand – brings us Inspired Healthy Snacks & Breakfast.  The menu is anti-inflammatory, gluten, dairy, egg, & grain free, Whole 30 and Paleo compliant….. and delicious!

Also back by popular demand is our Pastries for Dinner workshop.  How to incorporate pastries guilt-free?  Think savory, not sweet.  Then try savory Scones and Filled Popovers, both perfect accompaniments for a simple soup or salad dinner.

And another oft-requested class:  Our Knife Skills Class returns.  You’ll be surprised how much faster food prep goes and how more evenly your ingredients will cook if you learn this valuable skill.  And which knives to use as well.  Chef Christy brings an array of knives to discuss uses, as well as sharing her 3 favorites with you.

And that’s a perfect lead-in to our Giveaway!  a  J.A. Henckels Chef Knife :  The 8 inch Vier Sterne, Four Star knife valued at $159.99.  This is the classic German-designed and made knife, precision forged from a single piece of high carbon forged stainless steel with a comfortable riveted handle, enhanced bolster and a full tang.  This will become your most-reached for knife in the kitchen!
