From Farm to Table to Pantry
The best seasons are ahead for farm fresh produce! Getting it to your table! And saving it for the year ahead in your Pantry! We can help with all this! Or maybe we should call this “From Farm to Pantry to Table”!
First, our Canning 101 Workshop every month prepares you to save that great tasting, healthiest produce when it’s no longer in season. It’s easy – especially doing lots of small batches of 6 to 8 jars of seasonal foods, rather than 40 quarts of beans (unless you want that too!).
Think Strawberry Jam, Vidalia Onion relish, Fresh Tomatoes, Peach Butter, Pickled Cucumbers, Peppers, Cherry Tomatoes —well, the list is endless! Click on the link to see more about what the workshop includes and how to register. Next one: Saturday, April 14 at 10:00 am.
More: We have just posted our next Pressure Canning Workshop. Much safer than your Grandma’s and necessary for canning fresh vegetables (which are not pickled) and meats.
We offer this class only a few times per year – and demonstrate all three models of pressure canners. You’ll take home two jars that you just canned, one of chicken broth and one vegetable. Plus recipes and complete instructions. Limited reservations so check it out now. Saturday, June 2, 10:00 am.
Last: But this is really first because it all starts with the our local Farmers. We are partnering with Common Market to be a pick-up point for their Farm Share (CSA) program. I particularly like this program since it includes a dozen eggs plus fresh produce and is only bi-weekly, which doesn’t overload me.
Summer/Fall Farm Share registration is now open at https://cmfarmshare-georgia.org/. Registration is open until May 16. The first delivery will either be the last week in May or the first week in June, depending on your delivery cycle. At a very affordable $29.00, there is an early bird discount of $20 off their Fruit & Vegetable Share for those who sign up before April 20th. And a free insulated tote to haul your loot home!
Come join us – fun ahead and great eating!
